Your SoCal Weather Report For Monday, June 17: Red Flag Conditions Over LA And Ventura

Good morning and welcome back to Monday. In the forecast — smoky skies for most of the Southland as firefighters continue to battle wildfires in LA/Ventura County and Hesperia.

Temperatures along the coast will be in the upper 60s to mid 70s with partly cloudy skies this afternoon.

More inland, temperatures will be about 5 degrees cooler for the Inland Empire with highs from 79 to 85, up to 87 degrees for the San Fernando Valley. Meanwhile highs in the San Gabriel Valley will stay in the 70s.

In the high desert expect temperatures to reach up to 87 degree, up to 102 degrees in Coachella Valley.

About those advisories

A red flag warning has been issued for Southern Ventura County mountains and the I-5 corridor until 3 p.m. due to gusty northwest winds and low humidity for those areas. Forecasters say there’s a 40 percent chance the advisory could extend to tonight through Thursday. Those areas including the Antelope Valley could see high winds, with some gusts up to 70 mph, through tonight.

Forecasters have issued a beach hazards statement from the Malibu Coast to Orange County coast where local sets up to 6 feet and dangerous rip currents are expected until 7 p.m.

Air quality officials have issued a wildfire smoke advisory until 5 p.m. for the Santa Clarita, Castaic Lake area, including San Fernando Valley, Riverside area and parts of the Angeles National Forest.
